O vídeo "Evolução do Universo", dirigido pela Dra. Nadja Magalhães, já 
se encontra no portal do MEC:

O vídeo foi lançado na Semana da Ciência e Tecnologia do ano passado do  
Campus Diadema da Universidade Federal de São Paulo, dentro da Feira 
"Experimentando a Ciência". 
 
Embora seja de interesse geral, o vídeo é voltado para o Ensino Fundamental.

Com satisfação apresentamos à comunidade astronômica brasileira a oitava 
edição da nossa revista eletrônica: o LNA em Dia. Esse informativo divulga 
as novidades para os usuários do Laboratório  Nacional de Astrofísica e dos 
observatórios gerenciados (OPD, SOAR, Gemini e CFHT). A distribuição poderá

The deadline for early registration to the Pathways conference has been 
extended to June 28th. We encourage you to visit the main conference 
website (http://www.pathways2009.net) for further details, to submit your 
abstract, and register.

Important dates:

       - June 28th: deadline for early registration and abstract submission 
       - July 15th: publication of the final programme in the web 
       - July 15th: deadline for full refund (except for 15€ handling fee)
       - September 14th-18th: conference
       - November 15th: deadline for submission of proceedings
       - Spring 2010: distribution of proceedings

1.    KYOTO 2009

We are pleased to announce that on-line proceedings of the Joint Subaru 
Gemini Science Conference of May 18-21 are now available at 
http://www.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/kyoto2009/program.html 
All presentations are posted as pdf files.

The 2009 Gemini Users Meeting also took place at Kyoto University on May 22nd 
2009, right after the joint science conference.  The agenda of the
meeting and summary notes are presented in a document prepared by Chris 
Packham et al. (available at http://www.lna.br/gemini/gemini.html). The url 
link to all presentations is also given in the document.

2.   We are pleased to highlight  the work of Mariska Kriek (Princeton
University) and collaborators who have published a detailed analysis and 
interpretation of the deepest (29 hours) near infrared spectrum ever taken  
of a distant massive, compact galaxy (redshift z ~ 2.2). The Gemini South  
GNIRS spectrum of this object shows clearly emission and absorption lines  
that allow robust and unique diagnostics of the properties of the galaxy and of 
its evolution.
