PÓS-DOUTORADO E DOUTORADO EM COSMOLOGIA EM ESTOCOLMO (comunicado por Wladimir Lyra) The newly formed Oskar Klein Centre (OKC) at Stockholm University has received funding from the Swedish Research Council (VR) for a ten-year programme in dark matter, dark energy, and extreme objects in the universe. The aim is to create a productive and stimulating research environment emphasizing common goals and benefiting from the wide range of international research programs in physics and astronomy at Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology. This announcement is part of the first round of recruitments for OKC, aiming to fill up to seven postdoc positions. We search post-doc candidates in the following fields: High Redshift Universe (SU-144/08), Supernovae, Gamma-ray Bursts and Observational Cosmology (SU-145/08), Particle Physics Phenomenology and/or Cosmology (SU-146/08), and Dark Matter, GRBs and AGNs (SU-147/08). PÓS-DOUTORADO EM POPULAÇÕES ESTELARES JOVENS (comunicado por Wilton Dias) The University of Rochester invites applications for a post-doctoral position working with Prof. Eric Mamajek on research related to investigating young stellar populations in the solar neighborhood. The University of Rochester is joining the Small and Moderate Aperture Research Telescope System (SMARTS) consortium in 2009, and the candidate will be involved in projects analyzing optical spectra of young stars. Opportunities may exist for collaborating on projects regarding the formation and evolution of stellar and substellar objects, and the candidate will also be encouraged to pursue independent research as well. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in astronomy or related field. Experience with analyzing spectroscopic data is essential. The start date is flexible, but preferably no later than September 1st, 2009. The appointment will be for two years, with a possible third year subject to funding availability and performance. Please provide a cover letter, CV, publication list, and brief statement of research experience and interests. The applicant should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent. SKA: CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR ASKAP SURVEY SCIENCE PROJECTS (comunicado por Alberto Martins) Dear Colleagues The international community is invited to submit Expressions of Interest for an initial set of Survey Science Projects for the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP). Expressions of Interest are the first stage of a three-stage process to define Survey Science Projects that are envisaged to utilise at least 75% of ASKAP's observing time during the first five years of its science operations, starting in 2012. Expressions of Interest can be up to four pages in length (min. 11 point font) and must be submitted in PDF format as an attachment in an email to atnf-askap-ps@atnf.csiro.au. The closing date for submission of an Expressions of Interest is 2300 AEST on 2008 Dec 15 (equivalent to 1300 UT 2008 Dec 15).
