Espero vê-los em breve na reunião, Adriana Válio =================================================================== 2. 4TH EL LEONCITO SOLAR PHYSICS SCHOOL: RECENT PROGRESS IN SOLAR PHYSICS (comunicado por Adriana Válio) 4th El Leoncito Solar Physics School : RECENT PROGRESS IN SOLAR PHYSICS (24-29 November 2008 - Argentina) The School will be held at El Leoncito, CASLEO, 24-26 November, and Universidad de La Punta on 28-29 November, 2008. INFORMATION: www.casleo.gov.ar/solar ADVANCE REGISTRATION: smalaroda@casleo.gov.ar The aim is to present the most recent advances in solar physics and related solar-terrestrial subjects in order to motivate and attract scientists and students. The School is equally offered to scientists and students from all Latin American countries interested in the subjects. The 4th School format consists of a visit to important solar and solar-related observatories installed in Argentina and lectures presented by well known international scientists who will bring comprehensive descriptions on results recently obtained by the state of the art instruments and on the new observational and theoretical challenges to be explored along the next solar cycle. POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AT STSCI (comunicado por Raimundo Lopes) Postdoctoral Position at STScI Claus Leitherer Space Telescope Science Institute 3700 San Martin Dr. Baltimore, MD 21218 Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) starting as early as January 2009 and lasting for up to three years. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Claus Leitherer and collaborators on studies of the interstellar medium and the stellar populations of star-forming galaxies. The successful candidate will spend part of her/his time on the analysis of data collected with the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph, which is currently scheduled for installation in the Hubble Space Telescope in October 2008. Research experience in computational astrophysics and numerical methods is desirable. A PhD in astronomy or astrophysics is required. STScI is located on Johns Hopkins University Campus in Baltimore, Maryland. STScI's pay is commensurate to the year of Ph.D. The appointment will be made for an initial period of one year with the possibility for extension to three years contingent on performance and funding.
