2. XIII CICLIO DE CURSOS ESPECIAIS DO OBSERVATÓRIO NACIONAL

XIII Ciclo de Cursos Especiais do Observatório Nacional
Rio de Janeiro, 27 a 31 de outubro, 2008

O XIII Ciclo de Cursos Especiais em Astronomia do Observatório Nacional
(XIII CCE) será realizado na sede do Observatório, em Rio de Janeiro,
entre 27 e 31 de outubro de 2008.

O evento está destinado principalmente a estudantes pós-graduação
(mestrado e doutorado) em astronomia e áreas afins, sendo também
possível a participação de pós-doutores e pesquisadores. O Ciclo
consistirá de quatro minicursos sobre tópicos avançados de astronomia e
astrofísica, ministrados por especialistas estrangeiros, com uma carga
horária aproximada de 8 horas por minicurso.

Os tópicos e os professores convidados deste ano são:

1. “Orbit Mechanics of and about Asteroids”
  Dr. Daniel J. Scheeres (University of Colorado, EUA)

       a. The dynamical environment about asteroids
       b. Orbital mechanics on and about irregular bodies:
          applications to natural and artificial satellites
       c. Binary asteroids: generalizations of the two body problem
       d. Asteroid fission and reconfiguration

2. “Astrostatistics”
  Dr. Eric D. Feigelson (Penn State University, EUA)

       a. Overview of Astrostatistics
       b. Correlation and regression
       c. Bayesian analysis; Non-parametric statistics
       d. Model Selection and Evaluation
       e. Multivariate analysis and cluster analysis

3. “Galaxies Formation and Evolution”
  Dr. Joel R. Primack (University of California Santa Cruz, EUA)

       a. Dark matter: discovery, challenges, and prospects
       b. Structure formation in a LCDM Universe
       c. Galaxy formation and evolution: simulations
       d. Galaxy formation and evolution: semi-analytic methods

4. “Planet Formation”
  Dr. Phillip J. Armitage (University of Colorado, EUA)

       a. Observations of planetary systems
       b. Protoplanetary disks
       c. Planetesimal formation
       d. Building planets
       e. Evolution of planetary systems
