O Núcleo de Astrofísica Teórica (NAT) da UNICSUL comunica a abertura de uma vaga para desenvolvimento de estágio de pós-doutorado na área de astrofísica, a partir de agosto de 2008. A vaga é destinada a doutores em astronomia ou astrofísica ou a estudantes prestes a terminar o doutorado. Neste caso, o estágio somente terá início após o termino do doutorado. GEMINI E O FUTURO DA ASTRONOMIA (comunicado por Marília J. Sartori) Gemini e o futuro da Astronomia O Observatório Gemini iniciou, este ano, um processo de planejamento de longo prazo, cuja parte científica está a cargo de seu Comitê Científico (GSC). O GSC tem até final de agosto para entregar à direção do observatório uma versão preliminar de suas recomendações sobre o papel do Gemini no futuro da Astronomia para os próximos 10 a 15 anos, quando telescópios de muito maior porte e missões espaciais de grande envergadura estarão em execução. O representante brasileiro no GSC, Basílio Santiago (IF-UFRGS), está convidando a comunidade astronômica brasileira a colaborar na elaboração de um documento de planejamento de longo prazo, que será levado por ele ao GSC. ESCOLA TEMÁTICA DO SATÉLITE COROT (comunicado por Eduardo Janot-Pacheco) A Escola Doutoral da região parisiense (“Ile de France”), que é encarregada dos estudos de pós-graduação nessa região da França, promoverá uma escola temática sobre o satélite CoRoT. Ela será realizada de 6 a 10 de outubro no Observatório de Meudon. As informações a respeito podem ser obtidas no endereço: http://ecole-doctorale.obspm.fr/rubrique163.html . Esa escola temática é endereçada a doutorandos, pós-docs e a jovens pesquisadores (inclusive engenheiros engajados em pesquisa). A inscrição custa 150 Euros, que cobrem o alojamento, a refeição do meio do dia e os coffee-breaks. A lista de conferencistas será atualizada no inicio da próxima semana. O número de participantes foi fixado em 40 e os franceses estão especialmente interessados em receber brasileiros nessa escola, já que somos parceiros deles na missão CoRoT. ***************************************************************************
