CORoT POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN EXOPLANET SEARCH (comunicado por Gabriel Rodrigues Hickel) CoRoT postdoctoral fellow in exoplanet search The CoRoT space telescope is orbiting the Earth and regularly provides 12,000 light curves with a very high photometric accuracy. The instrument is performing the first space survey devoted to exoplanet search and gathers a new harvest of transiting planets that are keys to understand better how planets form. We are searching for a fellow who would participate actively in the detailed analysis of the reduced CoRoT data to detect transit candidates and to help in the characterization of the planets. The successful candidate will have also to participate to the detection chain implemented early in the processing of the data (the operational loop called "alarm" mode). He will work within the exoplanet team of the LAM and in coordination with all the other CoRoT exoplanet partners. The fellow will have to use Idl in a Linux environment. Skills that will be appreciated are: experience in signal processing, PCA and statistics. Applicants should have a PhD in physics, astronomy, mathematics or computer science. Applicants should send a cover letter, CV, list of publications, and a description of relevant experiences to the address below. They should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address. Applications are welcome by April 15th with a April 30th deadline. The appointment is for two years, with possible renewal up to three years, and is expected to start by the end of May or at the latest mid-June 2008 . Science that can be done with such techniques will be highlighted. The first part of the school will provide the basis of interferometry theory and practice. The second part of the school will be devoted to phase-referenced imaging techniques and to astrometry, to their scientific objectives, technical and astrophysical limitations. The School will be organized around six short courses of five hours each, taught by internationally renowned experts. Contacter dans les meilleurs délais : felix.perosanz@cnes.fr Titre : Positionnement précis GNSS : applications scientifiques de la technique des « ambiguïtés non différentiées » du CNES La technique des « ambiguïtés non différentiées » brevetée par le service orbitographie du CNES en 2006 est une alternative aux méthodes traditionnelles de résolution des ambiguïtés de mesures de phase issues de récepteurs GPS. L'originalité de cette approche est de rendre non-ambiguës les mesures de phase et cela sans effectuer de différences alors que les approches classiques nécessitent des former des combinaisons de « double-différences » entre des paires de récepteurs et de satellites. Concrètement, les mesures de phase GPS deviennent des mesures de distances satellite-récepteur précises à mieux qu'un centimètre. La technique des « ambiguïtés non différentiées» du CNES offre des perspectives d'applications scientifiques considérables. Aujourd'hui, l'accès à des éphémérides (position et correction d'horloge) de grande qualité des satellites GNSS, permet de mettre en oeuvre le mode de Positionnement Ponctuel Précis (PPP) et de localiser des récepteurs de façon indépendante et avec une précision géodésique. Cela explique le succès croissant de cette technique auprès des scientifiques et des professionnels recherchant la plus grande précision. Le mode PPP reste cependant limité par son incapacité à résoudre les ambiguïtés de phase par les techniques classiques fondées sur la différentiation des observations. Au cours de l'année 2008, le CNES associé à CLS devrait être déclaré « Centre d'Analyse de l'International GNSS Service (IGS) ». La contribution à ce service international consiste essentiellement à produire de façon routinière et hebdomadaire des éphémérides précises des satellites de la constellation GPS ainsi que des solutions de coordonnées d'un réseau mondial de stations et de paramètres de la cinématique terrestre. Dans ce contexte, l'objectif de cette étude est de démontrer l'intérêt de la technique des «ambiguïtés non différentiées» pour les applications scientifiques. Dans un premier temps, cette technique sera implémentée dans la chaine de traitement actuelle puis ses performances seront confirmées et promues auprès de la communauté de l'IGS au travers des produits délivrés en routine à cet organisme. Cette méthode sera ensuite appliquée au mode PPP avec les objectifs: - D'améliorer la précision de cette technique de positionnement en plein essor en permettant de résoudre les ambiguïtés de phase de récepteurs GNSS « isolés » (traités indépendamment) - De la comparer aux techniques différentielles classiques au travers du traitement de données géodésiques aux différentes échelles spatiales (mondiales, continentales, régionales) et temporelles (séculaires, saisonnières, journalières, horaires, à la seconde). Enfin, la technique des « ambiguïtés non différentiées» sera évaluée pour le traitement des données GLONASS et des nouveaux signaux GNSS comme L2C GPS et Galileo. Au terme de ce contrat, le candidat aura acquis une expertise de l'exploitation scientifique des systèmes d'avenir que sont les GNSS, une maîtrise de logiciels de géodésie parmi les plus performants et bénéficiera d'une reconnaissance internationale au travers de sa contribution à l'IGS. La durée du contrat est d'un an renouvelable une fois. La rémunération mensuelle brute est de 2172 Euros (valeur au 1er janvier 2008). ***************************************************************************
