Martin (vmartin@uefs.br) ************************************************************************* 1. POS-DOC - COROT ************************************************************************* 1. Position 1: Reduction and interpretation of the data of the recent STEPHI campaigns: For more than ten years now, the STEPHI network is organizing multisite coordinated photometry observations and providing data for the seismic interpretation of delta Scuti stars (see e.g. http://dasgal.obspm.fr/~stephi ). Comparative data reduction and analysis are usually made in several place of the STEPHI group, before common publication. The candidate will be in charge of the data reduction and analysis of the data of the last STEPHI campaigns (2001,2002,2003), with special interest for the bicolour information now available in STEPHI data. He/she will also have the possibility to participate to stellar modelling and seismic interpretation within the Meudon Observatory group. Position 2: Preparation of the seismic interpretation of the COROT data in the framework of the Seismology Working Group: The seismology working group (see e.g. http://dasgal.obspm.fr/~michel/COROT-SISMO.html), is an international scientific group in charge of the preparation of the seismology programme of the COROT mission. A key aspect of this preparation consists in developing and testing the tools and methods which will be used to realise the modelling and seismic interpretation when the COROT data are available. This activity is developed within a subgroup of the Corot SWG, taking advantage of the experience available from helioseismology and stellar seismology with ground-based data. The candidate will participate to this activity within the Meudon-IAS group. (see also the Corot site http://corot.astrsp-mrs.fr ) REQUIRED SKILL For WP1, it would be desirable that the candidates have already some experience in scientific data processing, and the knowledge of the high level language IDL. For WP2, a good background knowledge in stellar physics is required PLACE, DURATION Observatoire de Paris at Meudon and Laboratoire d'Astronomie Spatiale at Orsay 2 years minimum in the period 2003 to 2005, as early as possible. SELECTION OF THE CANDIDATES Based on curicullum viate, the selection will be made in common by the brazilian coordinator Prof. E. Janot-Pacheco and the Corot PI A. Baglin. *************************************************************************
